| If someone could link to and/or explain the flurry of "OMG Prairie SUX NOW!!!" type activity. Not that I doubt the opinions of the people I've heard from, but I'm really out of the loop. | | |
| And today - was over at the house-to-be, had a number of contractors over, got estimates for flooring, fixing, cleaning.... and I'm getting to the point where I'm just about giddy with excitement.
Pretty much only a disasterous failure of the loan paperwork (which, I have to be somewhat weary about given that it's happened before) or my depressing job could bring down my mood now!
| I can be so moody & manic sometimes, especially when the circumstances of my life form a confluence of frustration against me. This morning I (in order) woke up from the middle of a dream & felt extra groggy, got pulled over & ticketed for something totally unfairly, found out my shift will be changing to something very unfavorable, had many computer issues today (LATENCY! Seriously, that stupid hourglass showed up every 3 or 4 clicks I made within the billing program), and had couple of rather unpleasant encounters with a man who is simultaneously A) my direct supervisor and B) a less than agreeable gentleman.
But for some reason - I've totally yo-yo'd emotionally. From 'my life sucks, today is just the beginning of a trend' to "grab your coat & get your hat, leave your worries on the doorstep...."
Weird, eh? | | |
| I've now lived in the Puget Sound region for almost 5 years, and yet it was only today that I made my first visit to Gasworks Park, one of those uniquely Seattle landmarks. M. is down way south for the day shooting a wedding, so Thalia & I went to the Science Center, then drove around Ballard (Thalia politely requested "a crunchy taco place" at which to eat). It was very fun to eat our lunch in the shadows of a dozen kites merrily flying above us (with the occasional seaplane coming in for a landing just above them), but I quickly felt a great envy walking along the Lake Union side of things....
You see, that's where the boats are. Lots of them. Houseboats & converted liveaboards, primarily in fact - the exact kind of vessel I once (rather impractically, I admit) hoped to buy & make into a home. Thalia picked up on this as we chased after the Canada Geese around: "Daddy, can we get a boat?"
"I'd very much like that, kiddo," I responded with only a hint of dejection.
"Cuz if we had a boat, we could take it to the water, and then we could swim from the boat!"
I had to agree, it was a good plan, but then her 3-year old logic soundly had me cornered.
"How can we get a boat, sweety?"
"Oh Daddy," she responded matter-of-factly, "We can buy one at the store!"
Can't argue with that, can you?
So I bought at boat.
(no, I didn't really buy a boat - I just bought a house, whaddya NUTS?)
